Do I need to go to college to be successful?

It depends. College can give your career a boost, but sometimes its not right for you. Many people spend a lot of time working on a college degree and gain nothing and others get their degree and are qualified for a big promotion. The decision to go to college depends on your profession and industry. Sometimes trade school is a better option, and sometimes the best combination is both trade school and college. Whatever you do make sure that you have an end goal in mind and do research on your profession.

When do I need to make career decisions?

Now. No pressure, but the sooner you make decisions about your future, the better off you will be. You can never start thinking about your future too early.  You can save a lot of time and money by starting with a purpose and end goal in mind. Often many people are able to describe things they want in their dream job, but they don’t know what the corresponding job title is. Finding the fight job for you can take some time

How do I know what job is right for me?

Once you have an idea what job you want, you need to do some research and planning to make sure it’s right for you. Find out the pay range for that position and advancement opportunities that are available. Develop a list of potential employers and look up what qualifications they list for that position. It’s important to know what you value in a job, do you want a desk job? Or something more hands on? What interests you? If everything checks out after asking these questions, then go for it!

Is there more than one right career?

Yes. There are many different career paths that you can choose from and still be successful. Some career experts recommend that you have at least two careers in mind. The most important thing is that you are fulfilled and challenged in whatever career you choose.

How do I become qualified for the career I want?

The first step is determining what career you want. Once you know where you want to go start reading the qualifications listed in job descriptions. It takes a lot of dedication a time to become qualified for your dream job. Most people need to start from the bottom and work their way up. Don’t be afraid to apply for jobs that you don’t feel qualified for, you never know you might get lucky.
